Digital Christmas

With all the technology going on in the world – the original thought – I believe – was to make this world move a little faster.  Technology……should give us more time for the special times in our life – such as decorating for Christmas.

Usually we spend our Thanksgiving break (all 5 days) decorating the house – from top to bottom – 2 Christmas trees, winter wonderland on the mantel, white angels with a dusting of snow across the old oak buffet, the stairs lined with lights and garland over every doorway.  The kitchen explodes with Santas everywhere: cookie jars, sleighs, reindeer; the diningroom dressed in silver and white.

It is officially 16 days until Christmas and all we have up is a lonely tree with white lights.  I do have a few excuses – but excuses won’t do – when all I feel is a hope we can celebrate this Christmas as we always have – deck the halls!

I am thankful for my blessings – a wonderful husband, three children (and their spouses) and 2 beautiful grandchildren.  I need to remember celebrating the holidays is more than Santas, garland, lights and plastic angels…….it’s about family.   So if this tree is the closest I get to – deck the halls – I’m thrilled.

Enjoy your family and Merry Christmas!

The @ sign was very close to being eliminated from the standard keyboard until 1971, when Ray Tomlinson wrote it into the code used to send the first email.

We are thankful and proud!

My husband is a Vietnam veteran and I’m proud and thankful for him everyday -  for his courage and love of his country.

Let’s not forget our military and their loved ones – this holiday season.

My dear husband sent this link to me today – and I thought I’d share it with you.

YOU THINK YOUR LAPTOP IS HEAVY!

The first ‘portable computer’ (laptop) was developed by Adam Osborne and it weighed 24 pounds and had a 5″ screen.

The first computer was invented by Germany’s Konrad Zuse in his parents living room in 1936  to 1938, and is considered to be the first electrical binary programmable computer.

And just because – the weird word of the week is: plimpplamppletteren – which is the Dutch word for skimming stones.

PRINTERS MAKE GREAT FRIENDS – NOT!

I found this quote on a website – and thought everyone could relate:

“A printer consists of three main parts: the case, a paper jam and a blinking red light”.
